Are our current Party leaders promoting healthy democratic attitudes!

Fellow Ugandans,

All our political parties have got to find healthier ways to promote from within those with Presidential aspirations -give them all a chance to run in the primaries and let the winner square off with other winners from each Party in the general elections. All like minded Ugandans have got to find a way to rally around this working principle and demand from their respective Party leaders to implement it with immediacy, if we want to rescue our democracy.
This is how these other Parties are going to show us that they tolerate dissent and their current leadership holds dear -the concept of political ascendancy within their own ranks. When you look closely at the fellows on top, they have not demonstrated to us at all that they represent that culture -will Olara Otunnu for example give up the seat after one or two terms -has he written such a contract with the People of Uganda. 
We have been bitten far too many times to take things lightly - we want these fellows to write a binding contract -the likes of a preternatural agreement -stating clearly that when the time is ripe -they will not work against us to overstay in office. That they are currently working to repeal the law that has allowed President Museveni to run in perpetuity. Absence of such a culture and contract within our Parties spells disaster for Uganda's democracy.

How do we adopt these changes gentlemen, we don't have a contract with any of these fellows in the Party leadership and we have no clue whether  they will resist change, they have not shown that flexibility in the Parties they lead now-can we really say that they won't remain on the seat for life  - that is our dilemma and we have to finds ways of addressing it in our lifetime. The days of warring may be over, as we lick our wounds and count our causalities we have to be mindful that we lost lots of lives on a promise that has never been delivered - what will we tell our grand children from Luweero, Acholi land where families were completely decimated and moved for further abuse into make shift IDP camps-all for what?!  The more reason we should insist on building these checks and balances ourselves, otherwise History will not judge us well.

Why did you honestly trust him? Did you have any history on him? Do you know any history about Museveni making promises and he fulfills them? Did you have a an actual historical back ground on the man? Was there anything in Uganda that you would look at and realize that it was made by Museveni? Infrustructure, a policy and you name it. Museveni had no morals, he had no nationalism, he murdered at will and will continue to do so. At the end of the day he is going to kill you too, even though you praised him at his inauguration. The missing link from EM showing up in Kampala and feed on your naivety by leading the country, is because I have the morals and nationalism. And trust me I can use my very computer to build such support of I am going to move Museveni from power and as soon as I walk to Entebbe Uganda will become a federal state, and Mutebi will lead a secede region on and on I walk, by the time I land in Entebbe I will have a million Ugandans waiting for professor EM from Toronto. Do you waana bet? No they do not need to understand me all Ugandans need is a name with promises. And you get a morron like Obama that has never held a political office, he has never held a God damn job, he was only a senator yet senators do not run governments but Governors. And you held your pathetic hope into him for he makes good speeches.

May be the problem is with you Ugandans and not with Museveni.                                            Just a may be. Geeez !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It pains me greatly to see a man like M7 who came to power condemning African leaders who cling to power for too long has joined the club of those African leaders who will do anything to cling to power.  He is now speaking a different language, that he is a hunter and nobody can take away his prey.  I really have doubts that the type of democracy that you have described will come to Uganda any time soon.  Frankly, I had a lot of hope in M7 helping to introduce such democracy in Uganda but I lost that hope a long time ago.
