Purpose of Position:

·       Responsible for identifying, packaging and labeling of hazardous waste for transportation and disposal.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

·         Responsible for the identification, removal, packaging, and disposal of hazardous chemicals in compliance with all applicable laws. 

·         Label containers.

·         Performs warehouse work related to the receipt, shipment, storage, and or delivery of chemical wastes.

·         Loads, unloads, items according to routing documents and or supervisor instructions.

·         Performing general housekeeping duties.

·         Operates a forklift, or other heavy equipment.

·         Keep good operational record..

·         Pack small laboratory containers of chemical waste into larger containers for shipment.

·         Performs various regulatory compliance and safety tasks including, but not limited to: Forklift inspections, Incident reporting and all safety issues to the appropriate offices. 

·         Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Education:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science.

·         Must successfully complete HAZWOPER training.

·         Must participate in OSHA/HAZWOPER physical examination.

·         Must be able to wear a respirator.  

·         Some computer knowledge - knowledge of various computer software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

·         24/40 – hour HAZWOPPER/OSHA Cert.

 

Experience:

·         One to two (1 to 2) years of hazardous waste experience is a plus.

 

Skills:

·         Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

·         Ability to read, understand and apply common operational documents, SOPs’, and training modules

·         Intermediate computer skills.

·         Ability to work with limited supervision
