Dear Student Government,
As I’m sure you all know, the University of Miami has been part of an NCAA rules-violation investigation for the past two years. Tomorrow, Tuesday October 22, the NCAA will host a press conference at 11 a.m. to alert the public, the media and UM of its decision. Under no circumstances should any member of Student Government speak to media on behalf of SG, their branch, committee or agency or allude to their position within SG in any way.
After the 11 a.m. press conference, we expect members of the local and national media to be on campus to interview campus administration as well as UM students. Mike Piacentino, SG chief of staff, and Adam Orshan, SG press secretary, are coordinating with University Communications in order to support their efforts.
As we did in 2011, SG will respond in a deliberate and strategic fashion. Please maintain a sense of composure and professionalism. Remember that you represent yourself, SG and the University of Miami with your words and actions both in-person and online.
We will do our best to keep you updated as more information becomes available. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail our Alessandria San Roman, SG executive-at-large internal, at a.san...@umiami.edu.
#SGLove,
Bhumi
