Dear readers,

The link below provides direct website access to the SACP paper, Towards an SACP Strategic Perspective: Post-Covid-19 Sustainable Recovery and Development. (Bua Komanisi, Vol. 13, No.2, June 2020). The paper is also attached. The aim of the paper is to develop a contribution on the post-coronavirus economic and broader social transformation and development. What we need, says the paper, is a new economy, an economy that serves the needs of the people and supports broader social transformation and development. The paper calls for structural transformation – not structural reform in the sense given to that term by the IMF, OECD and the like. It then looks at economic policy goals, interventions and programmes required.

The Chris Hani Institute will this evening at 17h00 host a webinar on the paper. Dr Rob Davies, member of the SACP Central Committee, will present the paper. The webinar will be hosted on Zoom by the Chris Hani Institute. The institute will also broadcast the event on its Facebook Page: Chris Hani Institute. The broadcast will be shared on the SACP Facebook Page: South African Communist Party (@SACP1921).
