Hello

The Manitoba Marathon will take place on Father's Day, June 17th, and they're trying something different this year. UMREG always has bins available at the university stadium for the marathon since the run starts and ends there, but MM organizers want to attempt a low-waste event. Both recycling and compost bins will need active management during the event, servicing an expected 12,000 runners, volunteers, and supporters. Participants start to arrive at 5 am, the races start at 7 am, and the stadium finish line will see its first runners soon after 8 am. The whole event will be winding down towards 1 pm.
There will be 18-20 waste collection points with recycling, compost, and garbage bins, as well as scattered blue boxes among the crowd in the stands. I'll do my best to move the sorting table out to the event location for promotion and function. You're welcome to join me as either a MM volunteer or as an UMREG volunteer.

Hope to hear from you
Anders @ UMREG
