UMN DIVEST: VOTING DAY
Hello everybody!
As you may know, we presented our Divestment Resolution in MSA last Tuesday. We made a strong case for why our University should divest from companies profiting off of human rights violations. We had a huge show of support and the presentation was very successful! Make sure to check out the pictures attached.
Now that we've presented our resolution, it'll be up to MSA to decide if they will pass it. On Tuesday, March 8th at 5pm in MCB 3-120, a special Forum is scheduled to take place. This Forum will start with a discussion of the Resolution, followed by a vote from the student representatives. Discussion and voting will also take place for the counter 'UMN United' resolution that classifies Divestment as anti-semitic.
All the work that we've done so far leads up to this upcoming special Forum. If our Resolution passes, it'll send a strong message to administration that our student body stands behind divestment. It will show them that our students do not want their school to be complicit in human rights violations and that we demand our University to take an active role towards achieving social responsibility and increased financial transparency.
We need you to show up once again and join your voices to ours as we push to get the #UMNDivest resolution passed. In the face of recent hate and offensive attacks on #UMNDivest (see here), we ask that you come stand with us on Tuesday. We will show those who try to silence us that we will continue the fight for justice.
We ask that you come early to get a spot. Be mindful that the first four rows will be reserved for MSA student government representatives. As always, we ask that you remain respectful throughout the Forum. There might be an opportunity for undergrad students to speak, so please come prepared with your U card.

UNICEF Tap Project:
"The UNICEF Tap Project is back! This year’s initiative asks Americans to unlock clean, safe water for children around the world by encouraging you to stop texting, calling, emailing, tweeting and posting -- and challenge your friends to do the same. Millions of children around the globe do not have safe, clean water to drink, and the lack of this basic necessity isn’t just inconvenient — it’s lethal. Take the challenge on your cell phone at UNICEFTapProject.org throughout the month of March. The longer you go without touching your smartphone, the more clean water will be unlocked for children in need" for more information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8UK0fp1yE0
