It's actually on Macalester College campus - but if you or others have the time - I think you'd find it interesting. I'm hoping you can help me spread the word about it. It is especially for college students from across the Twin Cities.Let me know if you have questions! I'm copying the announcement here below. If there is a group of U students who want to go - we might be able to help with transportation. Just let me know. Take care,BetsyTwo Nationally Recognized Youth Environmental Leaders Speak at Macalester College
Tuesday, April 19th
Noon to 1:00 p.m.
Ruth Stricker Dayton Campus Center, Room 205
What is the future of the environmental movement? How do we find hope for preserving a healthy planet in the face of so many challenges?
Please come hear from two nationally recognized youth environmental leaders – and learn about their work to create a hopeful way forward for caring for the Earth and its inhabitants.
The Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness is hosting a forum with two of the 2015 Brower Youth Award winners – at Macalester College, Tuesday, April 19th from noon to 1 p.m. in the Ruth Stricker Dayton Campus Center, Room 205.
Each year, the Brower Youth Award recognizes the work of outstanding youth leaders from across the country who are making strides in the environmental movement.
Presenters at the Macalester forum are award winners Kate Weiner and Ryan Camero, who have developed creative and impactful responses to environmental problems in their own communities.
Kate Weiner while a student at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, founded LOAM, a student run environmental arts collective that uses a literary magazine and a gardening program to provide creative space and pathways for students to explore sustainability and environmentalism.
Ryan Camero works with Restore the Delta in Stockton, California, a grassroots group committed to restoring the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. He also works with the Beehive Collective, an activist art collective, to find new ways to do outreach and engagement, particularly in addressing the challenges his community faces from drought and water privatization.
The forum will include opportunities for the audience to engage with the presenters and each other as we explore with the issues discussed.
Snacks will be provided.
