Hi everyone,
I met with library people on Wed. Here are the results:
1. no problem storing ~220 books (2 books per subject x ~11 required clerkships)
2. they will be able to match $$$ that we put in. They are at the end of their fiscal year and they have some money available for us. So, i think we need to hurry up and take advantage of this, so that we don't loose these additional funds.
3. we need to put together list of titles, then we need to try and get group discount (if we want to) and library will try and go through their suppliers and get a quote for discount as well.
4. They will try and find out how to set up a set 6wks/4 wks check out rate so that no matter when you take book out, you will have to return with everyone at the end of the period.
5. Brian, do you have an estimate from Thompson about how many people take each clerkship at a time? I just estimated 20.
So, overall I think we can get books for everyone who is taking
specific clerkship and i think we should purchase all books for medicine, all books for neuro, etc instead of only a couple of copies so that everyone taking particular clerkship at one time will be able to have a copy.
I will work on the list and send it to you for approval and suggestions since you guys may have different ideas about books people use. Brian, can try and email some publishers (like blueprints and pretest people)?
Thanks,
Katya Ericson
