Hello there!

I wanted to follow up on two things we talked about last week:

1) Dean Horowitz: Did someone say they were going to get her a card?
If you did, let me know, otherwise, I will just plan to pick up a card
for her from the class, and inform the class about it via email.
2) May 2nd event: If lawn-bowling doesn't work out, we could go to
Legends--great happy hour plus they have parking, and it's still close
to the U. Serena, have you heard anything from Brit's?

Hi all,

It seems that are a couple ways we could go about setting up the lawn
bowling. We could either make reservations for the Green for $150/hr, which
includes all 4 "rinks", or we could set up a "private event". If we want to
make reservations, we have to wait until 2 weeks prior to when we want to
reserve, and then we can only get what is available (i.e. what has not
already been booked by a private party). If we do the private party thing,
they will give us a reserved eating/drinking area (indoor or outdoor) in
addition to the lawn bowling area, but there is a minimum food/drink
purchase, and gratuity is included. I will call today to discuss the
availability and what the minimum purchase is. Also, the lawn bowling on
weekend days doesn't start until mid-May, so I will need to find out if
lawn bowling is even open at the beginning of May. I will send another
email out as soon as I get in touch with the reservation and events
coordinator at Brits.

Thanks.

Chomilo's gf tried to reserve a private party at Brit's just a month ago
and it was pretty expensive. I say if the lawn is open in May, we just rent
it out and then get there and take over a section.

P.s. I'll pick up a card for Horowitz.... except is it like a 'get well
soon' or a 'sorry about the shitty news' kind of thing?

it's a shitty news kinda thing, but she isn't the type of person that would
like a card with the word sorry in it...maybe a "thinking about you" type
card?

Hey,
I was thinking about that extra money we have, and wondering if we
could add some of it to the thousand dollars we received for the book
exchange. That could buy a lot of more books to house at the library
for med students to check out on their rotations for studying!

Or the other thing we could do is host a party for student council as
well (since we decided not to spend money on a party this year but
still have a surplus). I imagine we'd have to pay for it in advance
since the $$$ has to go by the end of the month, I think...

How about a get-together around school after Residency day next Thursday? We could buy wings at Sally's or something.  Or maybe even a taco bar at sally's???  Maybe this can take the place of end of period event, since everyone is required to go to the U that day anyways. What do you think?

If the library is amenable to having review books we bought, we can also use our leftover money for that. Katya is looking into that.

I am waiting for the Brit's Pub office manager lady to get back to me...are
people still interested in doing lawn bowling, or have we decided to go in
a separate direction? I think lawn bowling would be a lot of fun, and
something most of us probably wouldn't do on our own because of the
cost...but I know everyone would have a good time at Sally's too. Let me
know what people think.

let's see how much lawn bowling is.  we should do both if our budget allows.  we can always throw in a last minute email to the class on wednesday about a party at sally's on thursday.

If we want to do Sally's on Thursday, I have to order apps today.  If no one has any objections, I will do that later this afternoon.  I will plan to spend about $400 on food.

We also need more info on Brit's, about how much the minimum is... but depending on what that answer is, we should also be able to do that (if not available on May 2nd, could even do later this summer).  Then any leftover money can go to books.

Please be in touch.

The lady didn't even tell me what the minimum purchase would be for a
private party because, unfortunately, she said they are pretty much booked
for the summer but "if we wanted to sneak something in in September" they
still might have a couple openings.

To rent all four of greens for lawn bowling costs $150/hr; we would have to
decide how long we wanted to sponsor and if we wanted to buy appetizers in
addition.

Darn.  Well, maybe we should do it in september then??? if we can afford the minimum, and/or find a way to count what our classmates buy towards the minimum.

Sally's has reserved the back room for us on Thursday.  It's half-price appetizers till 6, so I'll just hurry over there and order a bunch if our session is running late.  Amy will send out an email to the class.

Ok, now I promise not to bug you with any more emails. I'm feeling guilty!
