Hello hello!

Seems like we're hitting a few dead ends in the search for a speaker... I contacted the Lavin Agency about hiring Gina Kolata, and she costs $12,500 (yikes!).

However, the person I spoke with suggested RICHARD HEINZEL, who founded Doctors without Borders in Canada. Overseer for first free elections in South Africa. Supposed to be a phenomenal speaker. Fee is $7500.  I will run this number by the deans.  Please read up at the following link and let me know if you have any qualms about him.  http://www.thelavinagency.com/college/richardheinzl.html

Doctors without borders in Canada? As in Drs who go to Canada? Or Drs from Canada who go elsewhere? I haven’t read the link. I’ll read the link. I’ll also try and contact the guy I suggested again, G. Wayne Miller, wrote the book about Lillehei and the first open heart operation at the U, in case he is significantly cheaper or if the deans don’t go for the borderless Canadian Dr.

He wouldn't be bad. I say yes.

Steph,
Sounds like a great speaker.  Remember that everything is negotiable.

I had also previously suggested a woman who works with international adoption, www.orphandoctor.com and founder of World Wide Adoption Organization http://wwo.org/.  She is the physician for Angelina Jolie's kids and my wife has met her.  Not quite as glamorous, but along the same lines and probably for much less money.

Best,
Bj

BTW, we got $1,000 from the class of 66' fund to start the book swap project as a trial basis and can reapply for more funds next year if it goes well.
Best,
Brian
