Greetings All,

FYI (and thanks to those folks that responded). This has been a strange one. I finally left yesterday in frustration (hoping for useful advice, like yours, from the UNIX Admins because I was fresh out of ideas). However, when I left, I left the E-450 hung in the ifconfig call. I came in this morning to discover that 35 minutes after I left (according to the log files) that the ifconfig call returned (without any logged error messages) and the system came up. Going by log messages, the delay was betwee
n the "SUNW,hme0: 100Mbps full-duplex Link Up" message and the "pseudo-device: pm0" message (I really do not know the boot sequence well enough to be able to say exactly what else goes on between those two messages). Stranger still, when I rebooted the system this morning (to see if ifconfig displayed any messages to the console) there was no delay at all (the system came up without a hitch). I am left having to wonder what exactly happened here (life working with computers!
!
is a life full of mystery, yet we "know" it is deterministic :-)).

Thanks again,

Paul
