Mark Brown, an Architect in the Windows Division, will be talking about the
technical challenges involved in developing Active Directory. You do not
need prior knowledge of directory services to enjoy this talk.

Why? Active Directory is a distributed directory service included in
Windows 2000 Server. Come hear Mark describe the technical challenges
involved in developing Active Directory. He will also sketch what lies
ahead for Active Directory in attaining Microsoft's vision of Next
Generation Windows Services.

Mark Brown's Bio:
Mark Brown is an Architect in the Windows Division, where he works primarily
on Active Directory.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Mark was an Architect at Open Market, producing
server software for Internet commerce. There he developed FastCGI, a
language independent, scalable, open extension to CGI that is now widely
used on the Internet.
Before that, Mark did computer systems research at DEC Cambridge Research
Laboratory (where he was Director), at DEC Systems Research Center, and a
Xerox PARC Computer Science Laboratory. His research spanned a wide range
including database management systems, file systems, transaction processing,
desktop applications, and software configuration management. Mark received
his PhD in Computer Science in 1977 from Stanford University.
