Building three dimensional models

In this talk I will give a brief survey of the theory and practice of
constructing three dimensional structural models. Typically a 3D model
constructed in three stages. First, a range sensor is used to acquire
dense maps of depth information from many different angles. Next, the
data from different views is aligned within a common frame of reference.
Finally, the views are combined into a single representation, such as a
triangular mesh. The emphasis of this talk will be on standard techniques,
but some recent advances will be discussed.
