"Reactive Autonomous Characters"
Abstract
This talk will describe techniques for constructing life like
reactive autonomous characters for use in animation and interactive
games. It will cover abstractions for character design, and
techniques for "steering" characters around their world. Autonomous
characters must react to other characters and to their environment in
order to give an impression of sensible and lifelike behavior. We
will cover both "hand made" characters and the emergence of behavior
through evolutionary computation.
