"The Jack Principles of interactive design for creating immersive
experiences"

Dr. David Krohn
Jellyvision

"The Jack Principles" are a set of user interface design principles.
They bring the concepts of human conversation to user interface
design. At Jellyvision, we use these principles as tools when
designing games and other interactive multimedia experiences.

These principles are broken into three major areas:

. Maintaining Pacing - Keep things moving.
. Creating the Illusion of Awareness - Respond with specificity to the user.
. Maintaining the Illusion of Awareness - Don't let little things
take the user out of the experience.

Dave will be explaining in detail about the Jack Principles, using
examples from Jellyvision products, such as "You Don't Know Jack" and
the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" CD-ROM. In addition, Dave will
be talking about the technical architecture of the Jellyengine,
Jellyvision's multimedia engine, and how the functional requirements
of experiences using the Jack Principles drove its technical design.
