whenever I try to use a a link that deprnds on mathgate
I get a NOT FOUND me>ssage.
There's a considerable body of documentation in
the CAEN/LaSC Math Documentation that is the most complete
available here for several pd Math packages. Thus I
like to point new users of these packages to this
docmentation. However, it depends on mathgate.

The MATHGATE cgi script appears to be broken now.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
There is a path security check on the filenames to keep the CGI from
serving up stuff it shouldn't be. The path needed to be adjusted to reflect
the math documentation files' location in AFSland..
It should be working now, if you have any problems, please let us know.

It still does work; I've tried 9 from the 2nd layer
down ; all failed; here are 2 examples:

I've tried links off of both of these, and they all work.
Can you provide us with a URL referencing something off of
www.engin.umich.edu/htbin/mathgate
which fails.
Please also provide the full text of the error message and the name of
the host, so we can check the error logs.

The link:

won't work because the file dosen't exist.
http://www/htbin/mathgate/src/pltmg/src_s.dir/Makefile
does work, but this has nothing to do with mathgate.
If you encounter any files that exist in afsland that mathgate should be
able to see, but dosen't, please let us know and we'll get right on it.

Makefileo was a typo in the mss.
Actually I tested Makefile, as well as several other links
to files that DO exist.
Or rather their checked in rcs versions exits --with ,v appended
to the filenames. However, mathgate used to find and checkout
src from such files transparently.

_does_ work.
I need an example of a mathgate url that fails to fetch a file
before I can find what's wrong.
If you can't provide me with one, I cannot solve your problem.

The fact that you can see that page suggests mathgate is working as
advertized. I could hit the first few links off of the page you
referenced without any problems. If it will make you feel better, I can
list them exhaustively, but it will not make mathgate broken.
The urls in the above page do not reference www.engin.umich.edu but
incorrectly reference "www" as the server. This will not manifest itself
on an engin host, but will cause odd behavior on non-engin umich hosts.
This is not a mathgate issue, but a problem with that file.
I need a URL from you that generates an error. Not "links off of" a url
that _does_ work.
I don't know of any other users of mathgate.
