Hi,

I am in one of the database classes (EECS584) and would like to
do some research work on multimedia database for course project
using Oracle. This needs some programming using Oracle API. I
know there are some client and server functions I can call in
C (e.g., ologin, osql...), but I can not find the .h files (e.g., ora.h
oci.h)
and lib directories to compile and link. Could you tell me
where Oracle API head files and libs are? (I need directories
both on NT and Sun.) Thanks.

I don't believe there are API libraries and tools installed on the
CAEN NT machines, but on Solaris and HP/UX, they are in
/usr/caen/oracle-8.0.4/precomp/public
I have a disk with the NT version of the API & precompiler which
you can borrow if you have a machine to install it on.

By the way, I checked the /usr/caen/oracle-8.0.4/precomp/public directory.
The .h files there are only a small set. There are many other .h files
essential for compile are not presented there, such as oratypes.h, oci.h,
sqloci.h,...

Even the files provided under demo directory can not be compiled and
linked successfully.
