Dear UMFA members,
This is a reminder that Flute Fest will be held next Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Mayflower Congregational Church (106 East Diamond Lake Road, Minneapolis, MN 55419). Flute Fest is free to members. Registration opens at 8:30 AM; exhibits open and sessions begin at 9 AM.
Among the many sessions presented this year, our guest artist, Richard Sherman, will lead a master class with four very talented local flutists and will perform a recital of both beloved and not-so-well-known French pieces for flute and piano. In addition to these performances (and the Laudie Porter Winners' Recital), we will also have three world-premiere and one Midwest premiere performances of new works for flute. Sessions to help flutists stay in tune with their bodies through Alexander Technique and yoga will also be presented. The complete schedule is included below.
We have a number of exhibitors coming this year, including Brannen Brothers, Katharine H. Lowry, Midwest Musical Imports, Miyazawa, Muramatsu, and Three Flute Press. Plan to stock up on new music- or new flutes!
As in years past, boxed lunches will be available on a first come, first served basis for $5. Lunches include a deli sandwich, fruit, snack (chips, pretzels), and drink.
We look forward to seeing you at Flute Fest!
