Hello all,

I have tasked myself with creating a Schematic of the Megadrive #1.

I have also asked on Spritesmind if there is anything better than that infernal 'Photocopy' from God knows when.

Ideally I would like to use an Open-Source Application that can use File-Formats that modern day Software would be able to use.

My Questions are:

1.

Which Format should the File be created as?

2.

Which is the best Application to use for creating Schematics?  I am not so interested in creating Gerber-Files or anything like that, it is more over something that myself and indeed others would find useful to be able to refer to when developing.

Many Thanks,

Chris Smith.

I recently switched from EagleCAD to KiCAD, and so far I'm very happy
with it. It took a few days to get my head around it, but I think
that's fairly typical of CAD software. It will generate PDFs of your
schematics, which is probably the most appropriate distribution file
format.

I recommend you put an explicit copyleft license on your schematic,
e.g cc-by-sa:

Chris,

I have got hold of KiCAD.  I shall look into converting the 'Photocopy' to a Schematic to be exported to PDF for the majority.
I need to get my MD#1's PCB out and do the Traces.

Before I publish it I shall ask you to take a look at it.

I shall read up and release it with a suitable License.

I got a fair Amount of Flack from the Spritesmind-Posse - unreal.
