Please let me know when it is time to start sifting through campaign contributions and Sen. Miller.
Yep. I got confirmation that it can go to “your emails as appropriate.” I think that means, at a minimum, our neighborhoods.
I have a question. I don’t know Miller. I know on some political listserves that he has always been referred to effectively as a snake. I have actually never heard anything positive about him said, but it is a critical listserve.
Can he send a letter like that and represent the alum/developer or any interested parties or his firm? Should we take it as a given that he has acted ethically when writing the Transportation Secretary or in his dealings with the UM system?
Just from my outside observation of him going for the casinos, he struck me as a “stop for and at nothing” kind of a person. So, I think it is fair to say just seeing this letter that he, and probably CE Baker, think they are going to get this done as they did the casinos. Thus, I am, wrongfully or rightfully, anticipating a dirty fight.
I want to know why he wrote that letter as a Senator? And I have recently become familiar, a little bit, with the Maryland Public Information Act. So, I wonder if someone can fill out a letter asking for all communications from his office and Senator email concerning the Transportation Study request as well as any communications regarding this development thus far? Or CE Baker? Or President Loh? Or the Chancellor? I am not saying I would do that; I am just wondering if it can be done.
He didn’t just write it out of the blue; he was asked to do that. And usually one copies the person they are writing it for; if that is the case, that would be President Loh/UMD and the Chancellor of the UM System.
If UMD/UM System is already on board, oh boy, as opposed to just listening to ideas. But better to know now than later.

Miller tries to make the case that the lack of road is why UMD is not in the Top 50 effectively. Well, I think a very strong case can be made that this type of development, and especially taking out the golf course, is so harmful to UMD that it will move it farther out of 50. By the way, UMD is no longer 53; they moved back to 57 or 58 this year at US News and World. Did cutting sports recently have anything to do with the fall backwards?
My my. Why seemingly always penny wise and pound foolish in PGC, and now bringing down UMD to boot; that is its one steady diamond in the ruff.
