During the O'Malley-Brown administration, the Maryland General Assembly has increased taxes, fees, and tolls 37 times, resulting in the extraction of $3.1 billion from the residents of the state.  At least two of the proposals under consideration involve additional new or increased fees.  Note that our grredy legislators will use any excuse they can find--appeal to emotions, other goals, etc., to reach into our pockets for more.  But they never consider taxing expenditures by, or receipts from, the special interests who attempt to buy their support with campaign "donations."

Big Brother's acolyte, Dereck Davis, is proposing that the surveillance cameras that are now supposed to protect school children by discouraging speeding during the day now be used to collect additional revenue overnight when school is not in session and school children should be home in bed. 

Of course, if they didn't have so many proposals to increase spending, bureaucracy, and regulation, they wouldn't need to keep taking more and more out of our pockets.

If our legislators were truly interested in protecting the public, rather than grabbing whatever money they can, they ought to consider using wev-enabled surveillance cameras to maintain a watch over public officials to help prevent more crimes by elected officials like Jack and Leslie Johnson, Tiffany Alston, etc. and to make it easier for the voters to determine to whom our elected officials really listen.

Prince George’s Delegation Hosting Public Hearing Dec. 9

 

The Prince George’s County House Delegation will hold a public hearing on legislation currently proposed for 2014 session on Monday December 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Sports & Learning Complex (8001 Sheriff Road, Landover, MD, 20785).

 

The group is scheduled to take comments on 37 proposals at the Monday night hearing. The hearing will begin at 5 p.m. with testimony on eight Bi-County Commissions subcommittee bills, followed by the County Affairs subcommittee and then the Law Enforcement subcommittee.

 

A current list of local legislation is available through the delegation website at http://www.princegeorgeshousedelegation.com/bill-manager, and will be updated as more bills are approved for submission between now and Dec. 9.

 

Speakers are strongly encouraged to arrive early at the Sports & Learning Complex in order to have a guaranteed chance to speak. Doors open at 4 p.m. on Dec. 9 and sign-in sheets for each bill will be collected before each subcommittee begins taking testimony.

 

In order to ensure everyone has a chance to speak, residents may be asked to adhere to a time limit, or to designate a representative to speak on behalf of a group or organization.
