Dear Skywarners,
Welcome to the 10th Anniversary year of Skywarn on campus! On behalf
of the MetoGrads, I would like to invite you to attend a "Winter
Storms" advanced Skywarn class on Saturday, November 12, 11am–2:30pm
in 1202 Martin Hall. This is a 2 1/2 hour class that focuses on mid-
Atlantic snow storms and nor'easters, examines the frequency and
history of the storms, how they form and the difficulties in
forecasting them, how to be prepared, how to measure snow and ice, and
how Skywarn operates during a winter event. As always, the class is
FREE, and we will be providing a pizza/soda lunch courtesy of the
Graduate Student Government. If you would like to register or just
find out more, please go to
http://www.atmos.umd.edu/~gcm/wiki/skywarn/
and follow the SKYWARN registration link. We hope to see you on
November 12th!
Sincerely,
Kristin Cummings
