Friends,
Last night at midnight, Rev. Bill Carroll passed away.
Bill had served our church after his retirement as a minister of
visitation. He was a regular presence in our pews the first couple of
years of my ministry here, before ill health confined him to home. He
was a source of support and care to me, as well as a source of great
laughter and truly terrible jokes. He loved to travel with his wife
Doris, and I enjoyed hearing the stories and looking through the
photographs of their many trips.
Bill served churches in Winsted, West Hartford, and Avon, among
others.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, August 16, at the West
Hartford United Methodist Church, 1358 New Britain Road, West
Hartford, CT, at 2:00 p.m.
