Meeting tomorrow August 3rd, 2011 at 7:30pm @ UM TWP Building behind stairs on Lower Level

Let's plan on meeting tomorrow and reporting on the continued progress
each one of us is making in the tasks we have taken on. I want to
welcome Vinay Bansal who has joined our group this week and will be
helping us with the sports section or our exhibit. He is head of the
Upper Merion Cricket team and looks forward to helping us out. Please
bring along anything you have to show so far and lets continue to
finalize our plans for Sept. 10th.

I made a trip over to Franklin Maps this week on Henderson Rd. and
spoke with David Amsterdam, President of the company and aprised him
of our activities. He is going to ready copies of a couple of large
collections of Upper Merion Maps that show the changing dynamic of
land usage in UM Township over the course of recent history. He will
be lending us this collection for our show 'n tell tables and I think
residents will find it interesting to look up what was the nature of
the property where their current home sits as well as be informative
in many other ways. I have also recieved two books on the history of
King or Prussia and Bridgeport that will also be informative. I
mentioned to David that we will probably need to buy a few items like
a bunch of small flags, etc, and he said he would be willing to work
out a discount.

David also suggested that we write up an article about our group for
the Township Newsletter which will be going to press soon. I'm not
sure if we already spoke about this, but it is a good idea. We need to
speak to Ed Higgins about this. Can someone on the Twp end please
handle this?

Please bring along anyone interested in helping out and I look forward
to seeing some of you tomorrow, especially our newest members.

I'm still hoping we can get someone from the KoP Players at one of our
upcoming meetings to discuss partnership opportunities with them. We
were mentioned in their latest newsletter.

For the Board of Supervisors meeting of 8/11 we are on the agenda for a brief presentation. The chairman would like me to present a PowerPoint on our event. Although I can not make the meeting for tonight I will like to report my progress. I have been working on the etiquette pamphlet; I have attached what I've completed thus far to this email. After the completion of this pamphlet I will begin to work on the Jeopardy game. The Community/Cultural fair flyer has been printed, copied, posted outside of the Park and Recreation office (Please feel free to grab one when you arrive for the meeting), and sent to Adventure Day Camp 2 so the campers can take them home. Also I contacted Ed Higgins today in regards to advertising in the Township Newsletter. Once the description is reviewed and sent back to me I will forward it to him and he will make sure this is placed in the newsletter.

When I informed the committee last week about the presentation on the 11th, Chet said he thought he could be there. I obviously will be there but as I will be on the dais I won't assist in the presentation. But I may ask one or two softball questions which will be designed to provide the audience watching at home with additional information and if by any odd chance something strange occurs I'll be there to help out/jump in.

Also, I created a FB event entitled "Upper Merion Cultural Fair." If you haven't already been invited, please invite yourself and spread the word by inviting your friends around Upper Merion. It's an open group.

The top portion of the description that says "for sale" is referring to the Community Fair. Ed asked me to send a write up for both the community fair and cultural fair. The cultural fair committee is describe at the bottom and they are separated by a proper heading.

Sidebar: I did not receive any feed back from anyone regarding the etiquette newsletter I have been preparing. I have attached it to this email if anyone did not receive it yesterday. Also, did you all see the flyer yesterday; it is posted at the bottom of the stairs in the Township Building and also outside of the Park and Recreation office?

I like your progress on this so far... can you just supply the
committee with info regarding where you are getting your info from.
Please make sure info is accurate as many of us may not have much
knowledge about other cultures traditions. We don't want to offend
anyone. Let's make sure an example of this and the bookmarks are
included in the poerpoint to be presented on Thursday. Let's also
finalize our menu this week with a description of each dish,
ingredients, etc., and make that a slide as well.
