hi

I vaguely remember reading about enhancements being made under Belle to better manage multilingual sites, but after a quick google I can't find anything..

Is it true that a "1:1" structure will be supported so that content managers can maintain all language variations against the same content node by simply toggling to the language they wish to edit?

anyone know a link to further reading and/or previous discussion about this?

thanks

Hi Andrew!

Yes, it will come but it'll be post 7.0. We've already prepared the core for 1:1 in v6 with changes to the db schema and the repositories have support for this. In Belle we've also prepared the UX to be able to support 1:1 (via a subtle dropdown menu on the header input). However, due to time constraints it'll be in a 7.5 (or 8.0) that we'll have everything in place.

I'll go see if I can find some mockups / sketches.

Hope this helps!

Best,
Niels...

Great, thanks!

One question I was looking to answer in particular is how will the options in the “dropdown menu on the header input” be defined? Will these be based directly on CMS languages or will there be flexibly to define what these options are?

For example, rather than options of English (UK), Dutch, Japanese etc could the options be “UK, Europe, Asia, America”?

This is more of a “multilingual site vs regional site” question I guess, but hopefully the same CMS mechanism can achieve both goals?

Hi Andrew!

The idea was to tie it to a language as that's where 1:1 excels. In your case, I do believe that multiple root nodes seem like a better choice? Usually different regions means different products, politics, legislations, etc.

Hi Niels,

Do your already know when this feature will be available? we are going to start a new project and it is a multi lingual (5 languages) site and it needs to be 1:1. Im afraid we will have to create 5 properties for each property in the document type and make an api to request each property in the actual language for the templates to show the property in the right language.

Please, could you add this feature as soon as possible?

Thanks!
