I have to share something with you I'm proud of. The Harold Grinspoon
Charitable Foundation's Entrepreneurship Initiative held its annual
banquet last night. Beyond the typical food and speeches of a banquet,
the foundation also organized a business pitch competition and
rudimentary business-plan-like competition.
UMass Entreclub was one of 14 schools competing in each competition.
Our students came in 1st place for the pitch competition and tied for
1st in the other competition.
I was one proud mentor last night! And I thought all of you might like
to hear the good news.
I'm working on a press release with further details, but I thought this
good news just couldn't wait.
I hope all of you are happy and healthy and look forward to catching up
with you when next we see each other.
-Paul
P.S.
Entreclub's next big event is the Technology Innovation Challenge
finals. There five teams of UMass students will compete for $50k in
prize money. This event takes place on May 3rd (full details at:
http://www-unix.ecs.umass.edu/innovation). If you are not already
planning to attend, we'd love to have you join us.
If you hadn't already heard, the Technology Innovation Challenge is a
$50 technology/innovation focused business plan competition. It is a
partnership between the college of Engineering, SOM, and Entreclub.
Professors Malone and Bisgaard did the hard part - securing sponsors
and making their administrative staffs available to handle logistics.
Entreclub has provided sales and marketing and a string of speaking
events, work shops, mini-competitions, and aid in the organization and
planning.
Entreclub is proud to have worked in this partnership and looks forward
to the fruits of this year's labor at the finals and beyond.
