Dear friends of EI,

Normally I will not send you multiple emails in such a short time, but I
am hopeful you will find this news worthwhile. Attached is a letter
from one of our judges, and below is my response to him. I hope you
find the dialog as enjoyable as all of us at EI do.

-------- Original Message --------
Glenn,

I know how busy you are with the launch of your new business underway,
and your taking the time to write this letter means a great to me
personally and all the others who have worked to make EI's rebirth a
success. I am cc'ing some of those people and enclosing your original
letter so they may see it.

I have worked with this organization since its founding - originally as
one of its students. It changed my life. And every time I see it
change another student's life I know why it is worth it. For most of
the past seven years I was the only person running the organization,
and it languished - touching only the tiniest fraction of the students
it could.

HP proved that growth is limited by the number of high quality people
involved in your organization. GOOD TO GREAT taught us that we must
first figure out who to put on the bus before we decide where to drive it.

This year I was blessed to have all the right people JUMP onto the bus.
* Mr. Grinspoon and his foundation (led by Linda Peters and Brenda
Wilshart) provided us the financial resources to organize this week's
competition as well as a foundation of vital support.
* The Dean of the School of Management found Claudio Santoro (an MBA
student) and provided him a paid assistantship so we could get enough of
his time to make a real difference.
* The Dean of the College of Engineering introduced us to Prof. Hyers,
without whom the credit-earning strategy we executed this semester would
never of worked.
* I was fortunate that Bob Lowry, a local entrepreneur, kindly stepped
forward to be my co-director and his personal energy has made all the
difference.
* And of course we have many friends, advisors, and cheerleaders.

Together we designed a radical new program, and this week's competition
shows the fruits of that labor. I hope this semester proves to only be
the starting point of EI's transition from a good organization to a
great one - one that will change the lives of students for generations
to come.

And while your praise of my own work is greatly appreciated, the success
of our program came only when all the above people jumped onto the bus.
I am proud of the part I played, but I truly could not have done it
without these amazing people.

Thank you so much for your kind affirmations that we are on the right
path. It means a great deal to me, and it means a great deal to us all.

Sincerely,
-Paul

P.S.
We will, with *pleasure*, take you up on your offer of further
involvement with EI. But first, we're going to coach those two
companies you offered to invest in and see how best to utilize the
catalyzing opportunity you have provided. THANK YOU.
