I am proud to say that last semester was yet another record breaker for EI. 
And now it is time for a new semester. We have some wonderful guest speakers lined up including: Jeff Taylor, Steve Levy, and David Fialkow.You are cordially invited to any events of interest - they are detailed below for your convenience. You can also find our up-to-date calendar on our website: http://www.umassei.org
  • EI events are free and open to the public.  Unless indicated otherwise, classes are held in ELab II, room 119, from 5:30-7:30 pm.  There is free parking in lot 45 after 5:00 pm.
  • Join us after class at Rafters for our weekly social and networking session.

2/10 Idea Creation & Evaluation - Don't have an idea?  Learn three ways to come up with great ideas.  Then we'll show you how to evaluate which idea(s) are worth exploring.

2/17 Market Research I: How many dollars have your problem - Learn where to find the answers and get access to multi-million dollar research databases for free.
Guest Speaker: Mike Davis Business Librarian at the W.E.B. Du Bois Library

2/24 Startup Financials - Learn about the fundamentals of financials, income statements, projections, and calculating investment needs for a startup.

3/3 The Flavors of Capital - Meet a panel of experts on the different types of funding sources out there and which one(s) might be right for your startup.

3/10 Market Research II: Identifying and talking to your customers - Learn how to identify, segment, and reach your target market (AKA "the people you hope will buy your stuff").

3/24 (5:30-8:30pm) UMass EI Exec. Sum. Competition - Our top five teams will compete for cash prizes awarded by a panel of real-world investors & bankers.  Learn more about the competition, how to compete, and how to fulfill your executive summary submission requirement for the class.
Note: as this event runs late, the after-class social doesn't start until around 9:00 pm.

3/31 War Stories I - Hear the stories of entrepreneurs, ask them your pressing questions.

4/7 War Stories II - Hear the stories of entrepreneurs, ask them your pressing questions.
Guest Speaker: Jeff Taylor, pioneer of online job boards and founder of www.monster.com 

4/14 War Stories III - Hear the stories of entrepreneurs, ask them your pressing questions.
Guest Speaker: David Fialkow, veteran venture capitalist and co-founder of www.generalcatalyst.com

Note: This Tuesday follows a UMass Amherst Monday schedule, so attendance is optional and counts as a makeup opportunity.
