Invitation to end-of-year social

Dear Friends of the UMass Amherst Entrepreneurship Initiative,

Happy Holidays!

As mentioned in our first notes from the beginning of the school year, the UMass Entrepreneurship Initiative (EI) is wrapping up another successful semester with a social event.  Please join us at the Amherst Brewing Company this Thursday, December 13th at 6:00pm for our end-of-semester social. We will be meeting upstairs for some quality time to network and check in with our students, advisors, friends and supporters.

Some great results from this semester...

1.  Participation more than QUADRUPLED since last semester (30 teams vs 7)
2. 5 of the 9 teams that made it to the Technology Innovation Challenge Executive Summary Competition ( www.umass.edu/innovation) finals were from our program. 
3. At that competition our students did us proud: Several honorable mentions, the People's Choice award, AND 1st place.
4. Our financial support was doubled thanks to a grant from the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance ( www.nciia.org).  Our thanks to Prof. Hyers for securing that grant!
5. The Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation has asked us to help them create a regional competition based on our model for all 13 colleges involved in their entrepreneurship program.
