Backpack

I bought a 40 " backpack, can I use this for both the daypack and
weekend pack?

Also, when do we need a research topic chosen by?

Yes that backpack is fine for both :)

Thats a Sam question but I know the paragraph or two paper is a tool
to facilitate your thought process for your research project. Sam
may correct me but I'm pretty sure that your idea can change once we
start in the field. Thats whats fun about archaeology you never know
what you are going to find and therefore you must always be prepared
for a new "sparked interest"!!!

Last year we were not expected to be thinking of the research project
this soon but I will tell you my topic came to me as we were
wondering the sites of Belize. I really had no focused idea until
the last couple of weeks. I ended up writing about the importance of
art in Maya architecture
