I ask because we are running on AutoCAD 2008 and are about to buy licenses for AutoCAD 2010/2011. Are files created in AutoCAD 2008 compatible in the newer versions? We'd like to avoid running two or more versions if possible.
"If you have a previous version of AutoCAD Architecture installed on your system, you can install a newer version of AutoCAD Architecture and keep other versions of the program on the same system. This is called a side-by-side installation. If you have purchased an upgrade version of AutoCAD Architecture, you are required to uninstall the previous version within 120 days of installing your newer product. See your license agreement for more information."
How do you install previous versions from an install disk of a newer version? I had Autocad3dMap2014, then my computer was reformatted and I have to reinstall CAD. We do not have the physical 2014 install disk. When requested, Autodesk sent version 2015. We've been told we can install version 2014 from it. How? I do not want to use CAD version 2015. It would need to work with a Carlson product of the same year and the Carlson 2015 version is not yet available. I do have the 2014 Carlson install cd. I also do not want to download from the internet. RIDICULOUSLY SLOW. Already tried it and got nowhere. Suggestions? Any help would be much appreciated.
I just downloaded and installed AutoCAD 2016 on my computer. There was a warning, saying that my computer's specs aren't on par with the system requirements of AutoCAD 2016. I have 2GB RAM, 32-bit OS, and my processor is i3. I want to download and install an older version of AutoCAD. Is this possible without erasing the 2016 version? And also, which version of AutoCAD would you recommend I install?
I need to work with both autocad and autocad electrical, yesterday my machine was running normally autocad 2016 until I installed autocad electrical 2018 and here came the disaster, the new 2018 autocad electrical did not work in addition to that I could not remove it even using ccleaner, and caused 0xc000007b error and I had to install new windows, my machine is very powerful, 8 gb rams, i7, 1tb hard drive, excellent external Graphics card, I can play cal of duty advanced warfare very smoothly, in your opinion have I made any mistake, or just the installing of the autocad and autocade electrical is an enough reason for this killer 0xc0007b. Thank you in advance
Try and re-download the installer from AVA (Autodesk Virtual Agent) or from your Autodesk accounts portal with alternative download methods: Download Now or Browser Download. See the details in: Installation Failed - Result = 1619.
Terribly sorry for not responding, had to deal with personal issues, now that i am back i still yet to get AutoCAD to work, when i tried installing it, I guess the previous version still exists some where on my computer that I can't find.
In previous versions of AutoCAD we were able to manually "APPLOAD" the AcrobatAcadIc.arx, AcrobatAcadIc.dbx and PDFMAcad.arx into AutoCAD based products such as AutoCAD Electrical 2020, which I am currently running. I've been asked to evalute AutoCAD Electrical 2022 to weed out any variations in day to day funtion so that we can get our design group software upgraded to the current software version as soon as possible. In the initial settup I attempted to run the APPLOAD command and add the files from C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\PDFMaker\AutoCAD\2019\64 which currently works in AutoCAD 2020 and adds Adobe PDF, Acrobat Markups Menus and an Acrobat tab to our Ribbon. I've attached a picture of the menu dropdowns and ribbon tab.
I am hoping for some edification in what the Adobe process is in updateing these types of addons and what the typical timeline is from release of an Autodesk Product and Adobe releasing their compatable addons.
If the AutoCAD Electrical 2022 version that you're evaluating is 64bit, maybe you can try in a test computer to completely uninstall the 32bit version of Acrobat and download and install the new 64bit version of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
You are correct. I am running 32bit Acrobat on the other systems along with 64bit Autodesk 2020 Programs. I am resetting the Test laptop this morning and will install just the AutoCAD Electrical 2022 Software and then install Acrobat DC Pro 64bit. I'll let you know the results are. Thank you!
I tried the repair on the 32-bit version of Acrobat DC Pro then reset the laptop to factory image, which deleted all programs and user data. I then installed the AutoCAD Electrical 2022 program and did an initial run. Restarted the computer and attempted to install the 64-bit version of Acrobat DC Pro. When you simply go to your account online and download and install you get the 32-bit version of the programs and have no option to select otherwise. After a bit of googling I did find the 64-bit installer here -64-bit-installer.html .
Once installed this yielded the same unable to load message afterwards as the 32-bit setup. Thank you ls_rbls, appreciate the troublshooting pointers, at least now I have a 64-bit installer for future use.
Hi! We support AutoCAD versions 2017 and up so your set up should not be an issue. Can you check to see if you have the following folder C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins ?
If not you will have to recreate that folder manually or reinstall AutoCAD as this is the folder ArcGIS for AutoCAD installs into.
I was having the same issue installing AutoCAD for ArcGIS 400.2 with AutoCAD 2019 installed. Previously Version 370 installed without any issues. I created the folder that @Randy_Garcia mentioned, then 400.2 installed just fine, and the ArcGIS ribbon loaded in AutoCAD. Thanks!
Hi @MicheleInserra , I just had occasion to uninstall AutoCAD (2022) and ArcGIS for AutoCAD (410) and reinstall both and everything installed correctly for me. I am not sure if that is an option for you.
I recently installed the newest version of AutoCAD 2024. I have uninstalled the previous 2023 version and its data. However the Autodesk Access Desktop App is telling me I have an update to install for the 2023 version(2023.1.3). Not sure if this is a bug or a solution to make this go away. The application does not allow me to install this update when attempting. Screen shots attached. Any help is welcome!
Ok, thanks both of you for confirming. Can you use the Log Collection Tool to capture your logs on these devices and send them to me via email? my username at autodesk.com. We can troubleshoot the data being used to isolate the issue.
Why "over the next few weeks"? Why not right now? Why does a user have to come here, post, wait for a reply, then have to go update manually from a link a staffer provides and the rest of us have to just "wait" because we did not come in here to look for a fix?
We're rolling the update out progressively to a small percentage of users, and increasing that percentage over the next few weeks. This is industry best practice to ensure that any issues that come up do not impact all users. Microsoft, Apple, Android all do this. In all of those cases, a user could trigger a manual update early if they wish.
You certainly can, there is no limit to the number of verticals you can install on one computer. Both (all) applications must be separately licensed and activated. Just do a normal installation and activation and all will be well. You become a separate desktop icon for each application, as you do when you have a vanilla AutoCAD installed from your vertical.
On some verticals you must simultaneously install Express Tools because it's not possible to install it afterwards as you can in vanilla AutoCAD. I don't know if this applies to all verticals and versions, but it certainly does to AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 and 2013.
The plugins for AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and SolidWorks are included in Revu CAD and eXtreme. Revu Standard does not include these plugins, but you can still create PDF files by printing from any of these applications to the Bluebeam PDF printer.
Use the Bluebeam Administrator to activate the plugin for the new version of AutoCAD. Check to see that the version of AutoCAD that you have installed is supported by the version of Bluebeam that you have. Click Help, About in the Bluebeam Administrator or Revu to find the version of the installed software.

I'm currently in the process of learning 3d-modeling. I attend night courses which i think is very helpful. I have installed Autocad 2014 student version on my home computer for self-training, but it recently broke down on me.
On top of that if you uninstall and reinstall the software with a commercial version, there are some additional steps to 'remove' the edu version. Please check out the blog post below for all the details:
From what I've read, AutoCAD vertical products are basically AutoCAD with some discipline-specific modules and customization on top of it. (Or are they? For example, I read this and still feel a bit confused, especially due to @pendean's mention that the acad.exe files for each vertical aren't exactly the same. Also, I don't know if that discussion still applies to current versions of AutoCAD, since it's a bit old. By the way, I checked my ACA desktop shortcuts and they target acad.exe in a folder called "AutoCAD 2019", not "AutoCAD Architecture 2019", which seems to suggest that nowadays all flavors of AutoCAD installed on the same computer will call the same acad.exe file, albeit with different arguments.)
Supposedly, running AutoCAD Architecture with the "AutoCAD" profile would make it behave just like vanilla AutoCAD. Despite having been doing just that, I still notice some annoying minor things happening that wouldn't happen in plain ACAD, such as text styles being automatically added to the drawing (because they're tied to AEC dimension styles or something - I couldn't really figure it out) and which are a pain to get rid of.
