SGA Speaker Series at Christian Brothers University Presents:
International Research: Affects on Your Life and the Lives of Others
When: 7pm, tomorrow night! [Tuesday, November 17th, 2009]
Where: Christian Brothers University, Spain Auditorium (Buckman Hall)
Who: Dr. Malinda Fitzgerald, Professor of Biology and Director of the
Minority Health International Research Training (MHIRT) Grant at CBU,
will speak about international research issues and opportunities in
the biomedical and behavioral sciences – particularly related to
health and health disparities.
Former MHIRT participants will also be on hand to share their
experiences in Brazil, Thailand, and Uganda, and discuss how these
experiences shaped and will continue to shape their futures. MHIRT
alum will also discuss their involvement with non-profit organizations
like Hope North, a school for war refugees and orphans in Northern
Uganda.
FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
The MHIRT Program provides fully funded international research
training opportunities to qualified undergraduate and graduate
students underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research
careers. MHIRT is a paid internship, funded by the National Institutes
of Health, in which students engage in research related to biomedical
science, behavioral science, environmental science, carnivore
conservation, and/or public health. More information about this
