Hello Astronomy Friends!
As you are probably well aware, there is a Solar Eclipse Mon 8 April!
I'm hoping that many of you are traveling to go see totality as it is a unique experience. (And the next total eclipse visible here in the continental US will be in the 2040s. There will be other eclipses in between, but they will be visible in other parts of the world.)
Anyway, for those not traveling, there is NO EVENT at the OBSERVATORY!
However! There IS a Solar Eclipse Viewing Party ON CAMPUS (if the weather cooperates).
We plan on setting up several telescopes in front of Glenn L Martin Hall from about 1:45-4:45pm. The eclipse itself runs from 2:04-4:33pm.
If the weather does not cooperate, ie completely overcast/raining, we will be in the Lobby of the Physical Sciences Complex (PSC).
Parking
Paid public parking is available in the surface lots and garage at The Hotel at The University of Maryland, located at 7777 Baltimore Ave., College Park, MD 20740.
Wishing you clear skies!
Elizabeth Warner
