Help Astronomy win Giving Day challenges!

Hello Astronomy!

Giving Day is next week 8 Mar and the Annual Giving team has given us a list of challenges to win extra money and awareness for our Astronomy funds – and compete with other units on campus! There are several social media challenges we would love your help with, and there are two ways you can contribute:

1. Please post to your own channels/encourage others in your group to post (and tag @UMDscience and @UMDAstronomy on Twitter or @umdastro on Facebook)

2. Please send any photos to me by Monday, March 6, so that I can post to our social media channels

Here are the prizes we could use your help with:

• Throwback: Any throwback photos on campus. Post on Twitter and Instagram with #GivingDayUMD from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Giving Day.

• Worldwide Terp Pride: Show off pictures of you – or your students – in Terp Gear on your travels (or study abroad) with #GivingDayUMD on Instagram and Twitter from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m EST).

• Campus Views: Do you have a favorite picture of yourself at UMD or a favorite spot on campus? Share using #GivingDayUMD on Instagram or Twitter, and tag the unit or fund you wish to support from 2 to 6 p.m. EST on Giving Day.

• Tiny Terps: Photos of kids or pets on campus and/or in their best Terp gear with #GivingDayUMD posted on Instagram or Twitter. Tag the unit/fund you wish to support from 7 to 11 p.m. EST).

And looking at the Challenges, there are targeted times for faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents to give so consider taking advantage of those times as well.

Alumni: 9-10am, 7-8pm EST

Fac & Staff: 11a-1p

Parent/family: 8-9p

Student: 9-10p
