Hello!

All our ducks are finally starting to line up!

UMD will be holding an eclipse viewing session on Mon 8 April 2024 from 1:30-4:30pm on the front lawn of Glenn L Martin Hall on the UMCP campus.

Here's the public announcement: https://science.umd.edu/events/eclipse-2024.html

Our backup rain location will be in the lobby of PSC.

There will NO viewing at the observatory.

Call for Volunteers!
Right now I am primarily looking for volunteers to help operate our solar telescopes. They will be set up and you would be shown how to make minor adjustments to keep the sun centered.

There are some other activities listed and I'm working on getting clarification if they need volunteers as well.

We will be handing out eclipse glasses (while supplies last).

Even if you are unable to volunteer, we hope you will come visit and enjoy the eclipse with us!

Clear Skies!

Hello all!

We are just four days away from the eclipse. Weather is still a toss up here. But rain or shine, we will be holding an event and need volunteers. Thank you to those who have already signed up. If you are "stuck in CP" come volunteer with us!

As a bonus, CMNS is kindly providing t-shirts for the volunteers so there's a spot for you to add your name and t-shirt size.

Outside location will be the Front Lawn of Glenn L Martin Hall, which is the same location we use for MD Day!
Overcast/rain location will be the PSC Lobby. I will make the final location decision around 11am Monday!

Good luck to everyone who is traveling for the eclipse. But if you are not traveling, please come join us here on campus!

Clear Skies!
