Greetings,

We have had many stormy nights, smoky nights, generally one of our cloudier summers. But the forecast for tonight is looking good so I will be holding an impromptu telescope training session tonight. Impromptu because this is less than 24 hours notification. With the sun setting at 20:12, I would like to get started at 19:30. This is for anyone affiliated with the department who is interested in learning how to use the observatory telescopes for research, teaching, or outreach.

I do plan on holding additional and more regular training sessions through the fall. To that end, I have a form to get a better idea of the training needs. https://forms.gle/TWGKRkS7b1BhTeLD9

If anyone needs a ride or has other questions about the training, please do not hesitate to contact me.

(for newer department members, directions: https://www.astro.umd.edu/openhouse/1visiting/directions.html)

Clear Skies!

Greetings,

I am monitoring the weather forecasts for the coming week. Currently, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings are looking like they might be possible nights for holding a training session. I will make go/no go decisions 24 hours before each evening.

If you wish to be kept informed about these opportunities, please fill out  https://forms.gle/TWGKRkS7b1BhTeLD9 .  Thank you to those who have already responded.

Clear Skies!
