I just got the game and after I downloaded and started the game it tells me incorrect login information please check credentials and try again. I been looking for solutions but no luck please help me.
This is the Origins discussion forum. The thread started out Off Topic for here, and belonged in the SimCity forum instead. Anything added to it, whether more topical or not, doesn't make the thread a proper one.
Same problem.... logged into Origin fine, but SimCity keeps saying login failed, check credentials... I've tried rebooting, logging out and back in, and tryng different SimCity servers..... what is going on EA???????
I was getting the same error: "Incorrect login information. Please check your credentials and try again." even though I was logged into Origin fine. I tried logging out and back in. I tried rebooting. I tried different SimCity servers. And finally I tried the "recovery" tool... 12 gb download later I'm still getting the same error.... tried changing my password, still not working.... what is going on EA????
I remember I had a profile to SimCity China in order to download various awesome stuff, especially from @FANTA1990. Unfortunately I can't remember my password and I can't find a "I forgot my password" button to get at least a new one. If it's not possible to retrieve my password, I'll have to make a new profile but I don't know Chinese and I can't find the "how to register on SimCity China" tutorial. A little help, please?
"If you try to please everybody, you often times end up pleasing nobody, especially yourself. When somebody offers to do a favor for free, like making a mod for SimCity 4, you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you. In other words, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." - Twilight Sparkle after playing SimCity
"Being a mayor or a content creator for SimCity 4 is a heavy responsibility, Patrick. Each city and each custom content is like a child, and must be treated as such." - SpongeBob Squarepants after playing SimCity
Edit: seems the link below the one for retrieve password brings up a registration statement (Terms of Agreement), and clicking the (blue) accept button takes you to the registration form
Seems I remember a discussion similar to this a few months ago. Hopefully I'm mis-remembering, but I believe the conclusion was the email from them can no longer get thru the Great Firewall of China or some such and also new accounts cannot be created without an invitation.
Yepp, I ran into the same problem. I had to purge half of my google account (at least the passwords) due to a lost laptop, and I forgot to save this password elsewhere and only after this I realized that I can try to retrieve my password, but I won't get any confirmation email from them. Than when I want to make a new account, the invitation code came accross, but it doesn't matter if you can not get an email from them. So I gave up, and if I need something I ask somebody to download some stuffs for me and send it over.
Is it possible to make all those stuff available not only to the Chinese folks, but to every folk on Earth? If even a small butterfly can overpass the Great Wall of China, why not using legal ways to underpass the Great Firewall of China too? And speaking of that, is that kind of firewall really that necessary?
The internet is China is super locked-down and in all likelihood the rules on registration are to comply with some law there. Most content there was collated from other SC4 sites around the world and uploaded without permission. Precisely because it's hard for many Chinese users to access sites outside of China in the first place. It's perhaps then a little ironic that such a setup has managed to retain a lot of content, that has otherwise gone missing from the original legitimate sources.
Of course it could simply be those who run the Chinese site decided to make it harder for non-Chinese users to use it for their own reasons. Either way, there is no easy solution to get any content hosted there onto the STEX or LEX.
Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.
Yes. CB and I discussed it and since those files are the equivalent of unavailable we are allowing them to be uploaded to the STEX based on fair use and good faith. Peeps uploading them need to clarify they are not their own work and credit to the original author should be listed. If the original author has an account on Simtropolis then let one of the staff know after the file is uploaded and they can switch the name over. If not, then it can just stay under the name of who did the upload.
@kschmidt
I did read those posts, I'm aware of the situation, I brought them (admins) into that conversation, and asked their oppinion about the situation, since we have been working together in similiar cases for months in the background.
But atm bit busy with NAM pathing stuffs, which will end soon. After that I'm starting to take care of a couple of administrative stuffs within SC4. @CorinaMarie and @Cyclone Boom thanks for the permissions, I'm gonna bring the Gurry Walls (the whole set into one bundle) and other stuffs as well what was mentioned above.
I'm thinking about that creating a "legacy account" (as a team name or something) would be good, and all the creations - which doesn't have creator on STEX or can not be decided whether an account is the same person as a creator of a custom content - would go under this account, where the upload page ensure the given credit to the original author anyway. I think this idea has been brought up a few months ago anyway.
OK, now I have an even bigger problem. I finally found a file that has the right password, and that password was the very first one I tried some days ago. I put the right password and it still rejecting it. Why? Because of the Firewall? That's sad because the Chinese community has made so many great stuff
Edit 2: In some pages I'm in, in others I'm out. Sometimes I'm login, other times I'm not. And I'm not even sure if I can login again anymore. I don't get it. Maybe you'll have to hold your horses.
A legacy account sounds good to me too, but I wonder if it's possible to speak with the admin and suggest him/her to make the downloads available for guests as well, not only for the registered users.
Under legacy account I ment a full public account like yours or mine created by either me or the admins (the second would be better). I have been given the rights to change the uploaders name by the admins, that's how I uploaded last year a couple of lost items (like @dmscopio's recent uploads): first I uploaded them under my account, than I changed the uploader name to the rightful owner's name. In these upcoming cases it won't be possible in all the time, so I would upload under my name, then I will change the uploader's name to this legacy account. The "tags" can be used for grouping the contents for the same original creator, and of course the description will contain the original creators' names. I guess some of the Polska files (where the creator doesn't have STEX account or can not be indentified) could go under this legacy account as well, then the "TAG"s and description can tell more about the contents themselves, and in this case we can move the files under the official Polska Files group.
