Chip ID Reverse Engineering

Hello Guys, im working on a university project, im reverse engineering the Software of HDI 5000, if you can help me with this, i will be thankful, i just want to know where i can found the Serial ID (the one from the Ibutton ChipID) in the HDD, as we all know that every machine have an IButton Chip ID, that make every machine unique for licensing purposes, i want to prove in my project that this way of making secure licencing is bad, so first of i need to know where i can found the file that is containing the Secure ID in the HDD, thx
