> Beware of Zadig
There's nothing wrong with it. Virus scanners are known to produce
many false positives. If they were honest, almost everything anyone
scanned would show up clear and everyone would start to wonder what the
point is of paying for a virus scanner when viruses are so rare.
It's always good to get a second opinion. Virustotal.com is a good
resource as you can upload your file and it will be scanned against a
whole bunch of different anti-virus products. If you look at the
results of that and most of them report your file as infected then you
almost certainly have an infected file, but if only one or two report
issues then you can be pretty certain they are false positives from
lower quality virus scanning software.
Because Zadig installs drivers and changes system configuration, lower
quality scanners will detect it as a virus because this is something a
lot of viruses do as well. The difference is that a virus installs a
malicious driver to take over control of your computer, but Zadig
installs an SDR driver for controlling SDR receivers. But detecting
this difference requires more effort so only higher quality virus
scanners bother to do so.
I tried to Google for "Total Security 360" but I could not find any
product with this name. I could only find "360 Total Security" which
is a free virus scanner with ties to the Chinese government, so it
probably does not value your privacy very highly. The reviews of it
claim it is mediocre with below-average test results. Given that other
Chinese software is known to share your personal information with their
government, and this product didn't perform particularly well when
tested, I'm not sure I would trust it on any of my devices.
Cheers,
Adam.
