Hey All:

I'm having a problem getting my RTL2832/E4000 dongle to work, and am hoping someone here might have an answer.

Here are the steps I've been through and the results I'm getting:

1.  I downloaded and installed HDSDR in the direcctory C:\Program Files (x86)\HDSDR
2.  Downloaded and ran Balint Seeber’s libusb and ExtIO dll installer
3.  When the installer asked me which directory to install the ExtIO plugin to I selected the same directory as above.
3.  Ran Zadig, it found my dongle (an ISDB-T), and it picked up the RTDL2832 with VID: ODBA and PID: 2832
4.  I told it to repair my C++ installed when it prompted me.
5.  At this point a popup window libUSB.dll was not found in my Windows directory, I was given two options, based on the description (too long to reproduce here). I told it to install a local copy, and verified after the install that it did in fact install the file in the HDSDR directory above.

That completed the install process as I understand it.

However when I bring up HDSDR, I don't get the popup windows to enter my device hint.  When I click F7 and the on "Select Input" it says "No ExtIO DLL Found".  Looking in the HDSDR directory, I do see .dll called "ExtIO.dll".

What am I missing??

Thanks,

Ron

You should at least have an actual ExtIO DLL, like "ExtIO_USRP.dll" or the RTL
one. It sounds like the installer didn't put it into the correct directory.

Cheers,
Adam.

I'm thinking the same thing Adam.

I did the install (in exactly the same way) on another laptop and it went off without a hitch.  Definitely something about the ExitIO DLL part of the install that didn't go right.  Been checking on google to see if there is a .dll called "ExitIO.dll and not finding any references to it, so it must have another name.  If I knew the name, I could find it and move it to the HDSDR directory.

Thanks,

Ron

The one you probably want is Balint's - ExtIO_USRP.dll

Although it says USRP it works for the RTL2832 as well.

Cheers,
Adam.

Finally figured it out.  Realized that the install wasn't really the problem; at least from the standpoint that I did have the drivers in the correct directories.  WinRad and HDSDR just weren't recognizing the device.  Went to Device Manager and noticed that the driver it showed wasn't the WinUSB driver (even though I'd run and installed them through Zadig).  So, I deleted the device (again in Device Manager), then unplugged it and plugged it back in.  It installed the REALTEK device driver.  Then I went back through Zadig and re-installed the proper WinUSB driver and voila!  everything works fine.

Apparently at some point, it picked up the what appear to be the legacy drivers, and even with re-installs through Zadig, it didn't correct it until I completely deleted the device.

Thanks for your help.

I am having this same issue and this resolution did not work for me.  I deleted the bulk interface_0 device from the device manager, unplugged/plugged in the dongle, installed the RealTek drivers, then went back through Zadig and installed WinUSB v6.1.7600.16385 on "Bulk-In, Interface (Interface 0)".  Still no "ExtIO dll found" in the "Select input" menu.

ExtIO_USRP.dll (v1.5.1.0 released 3/27/2013) is in the HDSDR and rev4 (for WinRad) folders.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium (SP1) on a Toshiba L745.  Please note attached screen shots.

Thanks, in advance, for any help you can provide.
