Now when we start to monitor the HF band with our SDR dongles and uses an upconverter, it would be great to have a software DSP filter connected to the output. Is there any software DSP filter that can work as a normal external DSP audio filter to remove spurioses?

What I mean is, to clear any misunderstanding, a filter that works much like f. ex Timewave digital noise filter. Since I have all in my computer (except dongle and upconverter, it would be nice have the dsp filter there too, and not having to carry around an external filter with power/battery supply....

The only thing I have found, which seem to be very good compared to a Timewave DSP 9, is DSP Blaster/DSP Blaster 2  http://www.setileague.org/software/dspblast.htm  A comparison between DSP Blaster and Timewave DSP 9 http://www.qsl.net/n/n7qjp/DSP_1.htm  This software is from 1997.  It's 15 years ago, so there really must be something newer. Hopefully....  I have no clue if this software is available any longer or if it works on a Win7 64-bit....

Hi,
Most of sdr software have a some filter to demodulated audio.
For HF I recommend to use HDSDR.
HDSDR have a Squech, Noise Blanker, Noise reduction, adjustable filter
and others..

I don't remember if SDR# have filter to audio path.

Thanks Paulino, but I have given up on HDSDR. It's pretty useless, having tuning errors all the time. SDR Sharp is is my choice, but it does not have any DSP...  not that I know of. I'm mostly after heterodyn reduction and cleaning up cracklings.

You're not using the old e4000 tuner code for HDSDR are you? The one that
comes up with I2C errors all the time when you change frequency? That's been
fixed for a long time if you use the e4k tuner code instead (ExtIO device hint
"RTL tuner=e4k")

Cheers,
Adam.

I am using the RTL tuner=e4k, I have done all the time, but still a lot of problem while tuning. I have no desire to use HDSDR when SDR# is working perfectly.

You can also use Spectrum Lab. It has a gazillion options, and of course is free :)

I dont think that Spectrum Lab has automatic heterodyne removal or smart noise removal, not that I have seen anywhay.  If you know how it can be done, please teach me :)

Here's a whole list of DSP software - take your pick and feed the audio
from your SDR via VAC or your choice of methods:

Nothing among those links. Yes one, but that was an old DOS software....

I found this DSP software http://www.winternet.com/~swezeyt/dsp.htm  It looks promising, have all the filter I want, but I cannot seem to get it to work with Virtual Audio Cable and SDRSharp.....sigh..  If anyone tries it out and get it to work, I'm eager to learn the magical tricks.....   I'll continue and try and have contacted Mr Swezey himself in pure despration..  ;-)

Problem is, or seems to be, that most of these older DSP software is preset to microphone or line in ports and that cannot be set. There are no way to choose device from a list.....  The only software (oscilloscope/sound analyzer) that are working are those were you can choose input/output devices......    So back to google and continue to search for a MODERN DSP software....

So my search tags are, notch filtering, auto removal of heterodynes and noise removal..
