I don't get any other options in zadig other than RTL2832U, on this Windows 7 64b machine. The USB ID is 0BDA 2832 so it seems to be the a correct variant.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
Margaret

It would help if you described how it failed, what program you were
trying to use, and where you found the instructions you found to manage
the install.

I was following the directions on  http://rtlsdr.org/softwarewindows
The first time zadig started there was no Bulk In options, It didn't work then fail. From here on it appears that no input is being read.
So why is it fine?

The only markings on the Dongle is DVB-T. It was purchased from runteck, via ebay. The other info on the order was UEFA .2012 P335.
Are you saying it should work fine by just selecting  RTL2832U.  I guess there are lots of other things that could have gone wrong. Quite simply when run zadig, Options List All Devices, I see and select RTL2832U,  Below that the Driver line contains RTL2832UUSB(v64.1.909.20  pointing to WinUSB(v6.1.7600.16385  clicking on Replace Driver starts to install a driver but eventually ends with "The Driver installation failed".  Just noticed that the bottom line of the xadig window says that the (Requested resource not found). I have never expected much to work after that and it hasn't.
Playing around the other drivers (libusbk, libusb-win32) do seem to install successfully, but WinUSB does not. so is there something wrong with my WinUSB?

If Windows 7 run at administrator. And if it's set to WinUSB already you
should not have to change it.

Have your dongle plugged in
then look in the root of your C: drive for a folder    USB_DRIVER    I had to run the x86 version.  Win7-64 returned with the option to reinstall with recommended settings.  Did so and it worked fine.  Then windows asked if I wanted to install an unsigned driver.  Did so.  then the Bulk Interface 0 showed up.
Ran zadig with the list all devices
selected that
reinstalled driver
ran SDR #
all was working fine at that point.

Hi,

I am having similar problems trying to get up and running with SDR# and the EZCAP DVB-t FM DAB Dongle.  I purchased the USB device from Amazon, which is labeled EzTV645 on the circuit board with internal ICs consisting of the FC0013 front end and the RTL2832U.  I am using a Gateway desktop Core2 Quad Q6600 running Vista Home Premium.  I've run ZADIG and there were no 'Bulk-In" device driver options.  I have SDR# loaded, and the device driver loaded in the SDR# folder where the SDR# application executes from.  I have been working this for several weeks now and it is very frustrating.

Any ideas would certainly help

Hi Howard,

Not able to tell what method of gathering all the bits and pieces you employed. Easiest way is to use the sdr-install batch script found on the sdrsharp.com downloads page. The batch file will download ALL the needed files and create a sdrsharp folder inside the folder that has the unzipped sdr-install files (3). You can then move the folder to someplace convenient such as directly in the C: / drive.
After the download is complete, plug in the dongle. Then execute the driver installer Zadig.exe. found in the sdrsharp folder. Click on "options" menu and choose "List all devices". Then the drop down menu should show two devices that make up the dongle. If you have previously allowed Windows to search for and install standard drivers, you may see the devices with other names. The default is "Bulk-in, interface (interface 0)" There should also be a second device "Bulk-in, interface (interface 1) that is for the TV remote functions. Choose interface 0, and make sure the Target is WinUSB. Then click Install driver.

If you don't see the devices, you can go to Device Manager in Windows and remove the devices and start over. Same with Software Add and Remove to remove other drivers that have been added automatically. Zadig will replace the driver if another driver has been installed, so that is not needed.

I'd visit the Zadig website, find their forum, and ask questions.

However, I know enough to offer a suggestion or two presuming, from your
call, that you are in the US and that you're using an rtlsdr compatible
toy. Plug it in and let Windows do with the dongle what it will. (Let
it sit maybe 5 minutes or so. Allow it to install what it wants.)

First if in Win 7 run Zadig as administrator or if XP run the special
XP version of Zadig (from their website) from an account with administrator
privileges.

Then if nothing shows in the droplist at the top go to the options menu
and select the "List all devices" item.

Now scan down the drop list contents. Look for selections that contain
bulk-in or "DVB". If you find one look at the "USB ID". It should start
with "0BDA". The second window should be "2832" or "2838", most likely.
The third window may be anything with "00" being the usual contents. That
would be the one to install. It does not hurt to install the second bulk
port, either. (You also can rename the ports for mnemonic reasons using
Zadig.) Install the WinUSB driver. That's the one that is working for me.

If no name containing "Bulk-In" or "DVB" appears look at all items for
the 0BDA 2832 "USB ID" values and perform the install.

Once that is done you can download the RelWithDebInfo from Osmocom's
website, http://sdr.osmocom.org/trac/wiki/rtl-sdr. Then from a command
prompt run the "rtl_test" program to see if it complains or sits there
grabbing bytes from the dongle as a test for dropped bytes. If the
latter happens you're in good shape and can ^C out of the program.
SDRSharp will have a chance of working.

Joanne,

Thanks for the quick reply. Using the test program sounds like a good
idea. I've been reading and searching the osmocom site and getting se
additional ideas. I'll let you know how I make out.

Thanks for your help Tom.  I was able to reload the SDR sharp program using the batch file, and finally got ZADIG to load the correct RTL USB driver.  I was able to sort out the configuration info and set the parameters well enough to receive some FM broadcast stations.  I now know at least it's working.  Thanks again for your help!

Hello everybody, happy new year!

Sorry for the thread digging but I stumbled upon by a Google Search (maybe I should open a new conversation but I am shy :( and I have almost the same issue:

On which device should I install the Windows 11 drivers of the nooelec NESDR SMArt v4 USB radio dongle in the Zadig software?
-RTL2838UHDIR (Composite parent)?
-Bulk-in, interface (interface 0)?

I am extra cautious sorry because I don't want to wipe out the drivers of the wrong USB dongle :(

Thanks A LOT for your help :)
