I'd visit the Zadig website, find their forum, and ask questions.
However, I know enough to offer a suggestion or two presuming, from your
call, that you are in the US and that you're using an rtlsdr compatible
toy. Plug it in and let Windows do with the dongle what it will. (Let
it sit maybe 5 minutes or so. Allow it to install what it wants.)
First if in Win 7 run Zadig as administrator or if XP run the special
XP version of Zadig (from their website) from an account with administrator
privileges.
Then if nothing shows in the droplist at the top go to the options menu
and select the "List all devices" item.
Now scan down the drop list contents. Look for selections that contain
bulk-in or "DVB". If you find one look at the "USB ID". It should start
with "0BDA". The second window should be "2832" or "2838", most likely.
The third window may be anything with "00" being the usual contents. That
would be the one to install. It does not hurt to install the second bulk
port, either. (You also can rename the ports for mnemonic reasons using
Zadig.) Install the WinUSB driver. That's the one that is working for me.
If no name containing "Bulk-In" or "DVB" appears look at all items for
the 0BDA 2832 "USB ID" values and perform the install.
Once that is done you can download the RelWithDebInfo from Osmocom's
website,
http://sdr.osmocom.org/trac/wiki/rtl-sdr. Then from a command
prompt run the "rtl_test" program to see if it complains or sits there
grabbing bytes from the dongle as a test for dropped bytes. If the
latter happens you're in good shape and can ^C out of the program.
SDRSharp will have a chance of working.
