We have published a digital volume collating all serialized segments of the ground breaking translation of
Pistis Sophia printed in
Lucifer magazine between April 1890 and May 1891 by G. R. S. Mead
with additional notes by H. P. Blavatsky. Later in 1896, Mead published his scholarly translation of Pistis Sophia which may be of greater interest to academicians. However for students of Theosophy, these early articles bridge the gap between strict textual scholarship and deep esoteric philosophy by explaining much of the Gnostic symbolism in the light of Theosophy. In her polemics with Abbé Roca, H. P. B. says that "the true Christians died with the last of the Gnostics, and the Christians of our day are but the usurpers of a name they no longer understand." Hence, these articles are reproduced here in the hope that they can aid the "christianized" Western mind in rediscovering the mystic tradition it has lost for over a millennium.
