Hello Dragon Army,
First of all, Chris and I want to take a minute and thank Jen, Jess, Kevin and Dan for getting us through the inaugural 2012 season in one piece. Forming a club team is a huge task fraught with peril, and they succeeded beautifully.
Tryouts
Looking forward to the 2013 season, we need to get a tally of players interested in returning to the team. The 2012 team will be "grandfathered" onto the 2013 team - your spot is guaranteed if you want it. We will be having tryouts this year to complement our returning squad, and we'd like to get a good idea of the positions(and numbers) we need to recruit for. Reply to this e-mail with a "Yay" or "Nay" - don't reply all, just send it to dragonarm...@gmail.com.

We're going to rely on word-of-mouth to spread the news about tryouts. If you know a good player who's interested in playing on a competitive level, tell them about the team and encourage them to tryout. The details of tryouts (when/where) haven't been ironed out yet, but we'll let you know as soon as possible. One caveat to this- we are trying to avoid a situation where we invite the entire league to come tryout. So feel free to tell anyone you think is good, but please don't post about try outs on GRU chat or something.
Think of our tryouts
as the first practices of the season. We need a good showing of current
team members at our tryouts - to meet the prospective players, and for them to
meet us. For people who are interested in receiving the tryout
information, have them send an email to dragonarm...@gmail.com and that will
get them on tryout mailing list.
2013 Expectations/Goals
The overarching
expectation for the 2013 season is to be competitive in every game we play - no
more blow-out losses. This means we will be a team that makes the other
team beat us, as opposed to beating ourselves.
To reach that
expectation, everyone on the team needs to make a commitment. You need to
be at practice as often as possible - on time. If you don't think you can
make it to 3 out of 4 practices a month, let the captains know. We
understand there are more important things in life than ultimate, just give us
a heads up.
In order to remain competitive, we need to work hard on the field and save drinking, and any other activities that negatively impact our performance, until the games are over for the day. Your teammates will be leaving everything they have on the field for you. Return the compliment.
Storm the Castle. Steal the Princess.

PS
Wizzo drafted ~90% of this email, so I wanted to have a comment entirely of my own. Season Goal: Stomp. Horseplay. Repeatedly.
