I try fresh install of unity cli smart-set for local mirrors, smart
update, smart install rpm, then smart install task-x11 then I get all
types of errors some mention /usr/lib/python 2.7 errors, IOErorr no
space left on device,
no usuable temporary directory found in ['/tmp/', '/tmp', '/tmp', '/
var/tmp etc
looks like unity is knackered.

looks like there may be a problem with partitioning.  Can you do an output of df -H

as root?

Thanks for help devnet,
I reinstalled the cli, it must have been me at fault, think when
setting up hdd i was using the default setting, use existing hdd or
partition,
this time I chose what I probably always used before, the option to
use all disk space. ( must be getting out of practice remastering)
Thanks again, I will try installing stuff but not using unity-iso or
desktop or upgrade to see if I can get a install that can be
remastered with useable iso's

Sometimes when autopartitioning, the partioner sets up tmpfs or /tmp as it's own partition and doesn't give it enough space to do anything.  As an example, it setup my /tmp with only 2GB which meant when I attempted to download a DVD ISO, it couldn't download it (firefox uses /tmp for partial downloads).  The solution for me was to reinstall as well.
