Із наближенням четвертої річниці російського вторгнення Друзі України молилися за припинення людських страждань, за успіх у мирній праці спротиву всім лихам війни в кожному кутку Землі і за прийняття справедливих рішень про припинення війни та жорстокого примусу до участі у війні проти людської совісті. Уникаючи формалізму, ми не запалюємо свічки заради красивого жесту і бережемо їх для того, щоб запалити світло у нічній темряві, коли закінчиться електрична енергія. Юрій розповів про те, що судилище за пацифізм знову було перенесено на прохання прокурора, і про те, що, схоже, мілітаристи при владі не збираються поважати права людини і виконувати вимоги ЄС щодо припинення гонінь за віру та створення альтернативної невійськової служби під час війни, тягнуть час і продовжують карати сумлінних відмовників та примушувати віруючих служити війні, а не Ісусу, князю миру. Це робиться не тільки шляхом брутального насильства, але й шляхом підступних пропозицій ставати "солдатами без зброї", хоча, навіть якщо б це було можливо за законом, а нині це неможливо, суть цього диявольського обману полягає в тому, що не можна по правді жити у вірності Господу, якщо приносиш себе в жертву кровожерливому ідолу збройних сил, який оволодіває твоїм тілом та думками і робить тебе зброєю, частиною машини війни. Друзі пригадували, як Квакери створювали альтернативну невійськову службу в США, і молилися за те, щоб Бог дав сили вірним створити таку службу в Україні, бо держава сама по собі її не створить, має бути сильний поштовх і особисті приклади праці любові з боку громадянського суспільства цивільних.

Work of Love 

As the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion approaches, the Friends of Ukraine prayed for an end to human suffering, for success in the peaceful labor of resisting all the evils of war in every corner of the Earth, and for the adoption of just decisions to end the war and the brutal coercion into participation in war against human conscience. Avoiding formalism, we do not light candles for the sake of a beautiful gesture; instead, we save them to kindle light in the darkness of night when the electricity runs out. Yurii spoke about how the shameful trial over his pacifism was postponed again at the prosecutor's request. It appears that the militarists in power have no intention of respecting human rights or fulfilling EU requirements to end persecution for faith and to establish alternative non-military service during wartime. They are stalling for time, continuing to punish conscientious objectors and forcing believers to serve the war rather than Jesus, the Prince of Peace. This is done not only through brute violence but also through insidious proposals to become "soldiers without weapons." Even if this were legally possible — which currently it is not — the essence of this diabolical deception is that one cannot truly live in faithfulness to the Lord if one sacrifices oneself to the bloodthirsty idol of the armed forces, which takes possession of your body and thoughts, turning you into a weapon and a part of the war machine. The Friends recalled how Quakers established alternative non-military service in the USA and prayed that God would grant the faithful the strength to create such a service in Ukraine. Since the state will not create it on its own, there must be a powerful impetus and personal examples of the labor of love from a civil society.
