Past trends of races can often help find a shortlist of potential
winners in the current years races - hopefully these brief pointers
will assist race goers at Hexham today. The figures in brackets after
the race details is the favourite's past record in the race.
2 Mile Novices Hurdle (40%): Horses aged either 5/6yrs have the best
record in this race. Most winners were well backed at odds of 9/1 or
shorter. All had been off the racecourse at least 15 days before
winning this race. It is likely that the winner will have finished 5th
or better on at least one of last two races.
2 Mile Selling Handicap Hurdle (33%): Run as handicap since 2001
only. The first three home in 2005 had all raced in a similar race at
Hexham 7 days earlier with three of last six winners also having the
same last race entry at Hexham the week before. All had finished 6th
or better on at least one of last two races being well backed at 10/1
or shorter. W Storey has 2 wins in last 4 years.
3M 1F Handicap Chase (n/a): New race in 2006.
3 Mile Handicap Hurdle (50%): All winners aged 6-8yrs with 7yo's
winning 3/6 races. All finished 6th or better LTO with a win/placed
run in last race seen in 5/6 winners. SP's all 8/1 or shorter. A break
of 17 days+ since last race seen with all winners.
2 Mile H'cap Chase (35%): All but one winner last raced between 2-14
days earlier with a 6th place or better on last completed outing
generally seen . SP's usually 9/1 or shorter. Preferred age group is
9yo with oldest winner seen aged 11yrs.
3 Mile Maiden Hurdle (50%): Race distance changed from 2m 4f in 2005
although all races used in this data. A common theme is that all
winners were well backed at odds of 5/1 or shorter so betting trends
should be followed. In terms of recent form a 6th place or better on
last completed run is also seen in all past winners. A Dobbin has
ridden 3/6 winners in this even albeit latest in 2003.
Leading Jockeys: A Dobbin 5 wins, B Harding 4 wins
Leading Trainer: L Lungo 5 wins.
