BANGOR TRENDSETTERS GUIDE (1997-2006)
19th May 2007
Past trends of races can often help find a shortlist of potential
winners in the current years races - hopefully these brief pointers
will assist race goers at Bangor today. The figures in brackets after
the race details is the favourite's past record in the race.

2M 4F Nov H'cap Hurdle (30%): All past winners aged 5-7yrs with 5&6yo
having slight advantage. All but last years winner had finished 5th or
better on last completed run. A last run within 39 days also seen in
all past winners except last years! Winners odds were 6/1 or shorter
in 7/10 years with longest SP of winner seen at 12/1.
2M Nov Chase (70%): Race also run as an intermediate chase between
2001-2004. Jockey A P McCoy has great record in the race with 4 wins
since 2001. 7yo is the best age group with 6/10 wins. Last four
winners also won LTO with no previous winner finishing worse than 6th
on last outing. Longest winners odds seen 11/2.
2M Novice Hurdle (50%): Preferred age group is 4-6yrs with 4&5yo
having a slight advantage.7/10 recent winners finished 3rd or better
on last outing. Apart from a shock 33-1 winner in 2001 the other
winners were generally well backed at 9/1 or shorter.
2M 4F H'cap Chase (10%): All winners aged between 7-10 years with 7yo
having a slight advantage. Winners often had poor recent form with
last four winners finishing no better than 4th in any of last four
races - as a result we have seen 5/10 winners with SP's between 12/1
and 16/1. Most were race fit with recent run in last 35 days.
2M 1F H'cap Hurdle (10%): All winners aged between 4-10yrs with 6yo
having a very slight advantage. All winners ran 5th or better LTO
with a first three finish LTO more than likely. Whilst favourites
record is weak the 2nd favourites fare better - longest winners odds
seen were 10/1 so no major shocks in this race.
3M PTP Final (50%): Age of winner has varied from 6-13yrs in this
event. Lord Harry (3) and No Retreat (2) seen as multiple winners of
the event. Look for a 6th place or better on last run over regulation
fences (non PTP races). One 40/1 shock winner in 1998 but rest fairly
well backed at 10/1 or shorter. Three of last 5 winners last raced 17
days before at Cheltenham's hunter chase card
2M 1F NH Flat Race (36%): All winners aged 4-6yrs with 5yo having the
strongest record with 7/11 wins. Best to look for either a 6th place
or better LTO or an unraced horse from a well known stable.

Leading Jockeys: A P McCoy 10 wins, A Dobbin 4 wins
Leading Trainer: P Webber 5 wins, N Twiston-Davies 4 wins.
