Dear Students,
I hope you are able to understand the lecture on neurophysiology
especially ACMS students. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
The best way to learn is by asking questions.
Just to test how far you understand please answer these questions.
Revision test for neuroscience (Physiology)
1. A busy working mother touched a hot kettle with her right hand and
immediately withdrew the affected hand while the other hand extends.
Select the most likely neural activity that occurs :
A. Irradiation of the excitatory stimulus.
B. The extensor muscle of the right side is inhibited.
C. The intrafusal muscle fibres are stimulated.
D. The sensory nerve directly stimulates alpha motor neuron.
E. The type 1a afferent neuron is stimulated.
2. A 50-year-old man suffered from a stroke one month ago. The most
likely sign observed is
A. ataxia
B. clonus
C. leadpipe rigidity
D. muscle atrophy
E. pendular knee jerk
3. A clerical staff is typing on a computer. The most likely tract or
area required for the above is the
A. extrapyramidal tract.
B. lateral corticospinal tract.
C. lateral spinothalamic tract.
D. occipital.
E. Wernicke area.
4. In a classical conditioning reflex experiment, a dog salivates when
a bell was rung. Choose the most correct statement regarding the
experiment :
A. A reward is given after every task.
B. Blowing the horn can be an alternative conditioned stimulus.
C. Initially, the unconditioned stimulus precedes conditioned
stimulus.
D. The cerebellum is stimulated.
E. The reflex is life-long.
5. A 48-year-old woman was trapped in her car in a snow storm for a
day. Select the most likely physiological response to the weather.
A. Adrenaline secretion is increased.
B. Involuntary motor activity is decreased.
C. Anterior hypothalamus is stimulated.
D. There is loss of fluid and electrolyte.
E. There is vasodilatation.
