im sure this has been answered a million times but my outlook is F**cked for
lack of a worse word..........

what linux would you recomend?

I have installed Redhat before but never got muche past the "pre-instaled"
softwares.

I am keen on 3D and Virtual Reality (nearly a (windows based) Pro). so i
will be looking to compile / write softwares in the future
( i have some experiance writing programs in python but am looking to
progress onto faster things... maybe.. comments welcome)

what is the easiest to instal, most robust, has best support for 3D (nVidia
cards???) best/easiest progaming lanuage , best / easiest help system

cheers

I'm a newbie myself, but I understand that Mandrake is probably
the easiest. This NG is very quiet - you'll get a better response in
the quiet but friendly <news:freeserve.help.unix> or the extremely busy
<news:uk.comp.os.linux>

I have just installed suse 9, it recognised all my hardware and
comes with a huge selection of software. The online update
facility is very useful.
I have not setup 3D yet, but nvidia linux drivers are available

be friendly for newcomers.
